Joel M. Solano, MD

Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Solano is a board certified, and fellowship trained anterior segment surgeon and glaucoma specialist. He completed his medical training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic’s main campus in Rochester, MN and has over 15 years of experience with diagnosing and treating patients with severe eye disease. Dr Solano’s expertise includes medical, laser, and surgical treatments of glaucoma.

Peter DeLange, MBA

VP of Operations

Peter has over 25 years of medical device industry experience and over 15 years in executive level positions. He was founder and CEO of Devicix, a medical device product development firm acquired by Nortech System, Inc (NSYS), Sr. Vice President of Operations and Business Development of Enteromedics (ETRM), and Co-Founder of FocusStart, a medical device technology company.

Joy is a target driven healthcare transformer with 20 years of executive leadership experience, optimizing go to market strategies and revenue efficiencies for health care. Joy has repeated success in creating top performing teams that bring innovative health care solutions to market. Her experience spans both Audiology and Ophthalmology healthcare, with a focus on tele-health and med-tech solutions that increase patient outcomes and improve quality of life.

Alan has over 20 years of IT experience and 15 years in executive level positions. He has a proven track record with building highly scalable solutions and enabling data monetization strategies that have yielded multi-million-dollar benefits for some of the best-known brands in the world including Avery Dennison, Coca-Cola, Costco, Lexmark & UPS.

Amy Dixon, PLY

Director, Patient Advococy

Amy Dixon is a Tokyo 2020 Paralympian in the sport of triathlon.  She is an 8-Time World Cup Gold Medalist, 4-time Cycling and Triathlon National Champion and the reigning ITU Aquathlon World Champion.  In addition to her athletic career, Amy works as a spokesperson, patient advocate and expert speaker in the eye care, mental health, and immune health industries, working with biotech, MedTech and pharma to improve patient outcomes.  She founded Glaucoma Eyes International, serving now 30,000 patients worldwide through her networks.  Amy also founded Camp No Sight No Limits, to encourage the next generation of blind athletes to pursue greatness.  She has received recognition from State Senators Blumenthal and Congressman Levins for her advocacy work and the 2020 Visionary Award from the Glaucoma Research Foundation. She is a 13-year member of the Lions Club and is fighting daily to bring faster, better care to eye disease patients and improve outcomes through education.

Matt has a uniquely diversified analytical skill set that has brought many ideas, opportunities, and people together in multiple environments.  For over 25 years he’s been aligning key stakeholders within investment management, retail healthcare, and enterprise management.  His expertise and tact consistently foster an environment where compliance, liquidity, return on capital, and corporate ambition can simultaneously thrive without sacrificing transparency or clarity with respect to strategic objectives and the means for achieving them.​

Hayden Brownell

Principal Scientist

Hayden Brownell, PhD, is an experimental physicist with thirty years’ experience developing devices for research and commercial ventures. After a dozen years in academia, Dr. Brownell founded AccelBeam Synthesis, successfully demonstrating immediate, seamless scale up of chemical production from bench top to commercial rates in a novel suite of general-purpose microwave processors.

Patrick Corneille

Patrick has over 15 years of medical device product development experience with project management, technical leadership and hands-on design engineering roles. He has successfully led innovative new product development programs to successful global market launches at Stryker Endoscopy and Nortech Systems, Inc. covering a wide variety of clinical areas and core technologies.

Lane Macy Kiefaber

Director of Corporate Social Responsibility

Lane has over 25 years’ experience as a skilled executive and start-up strategist developing and leading nonprofit and for-profit businesses making a social impact. Her expertise includes creation of sustainable business models, strategic planning, program and initiative design and execution, and business and strategic partnership development. Lane has launched more than 12 businesses to success.

Thomas E. Lauerman

Tom Lauerman has founded and been a significant investor in more than a dozen companies, where he serves as board member or advisor. Mr. Lauerman has a degree in computer science, was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, consulted internationally, and was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Tom co-founded GeoAccess, which was recognized three years in a row by Inc. magazine as one of the nation’s 500 fastest-growing private companies. With no outside investors, he and his business partner quickly grew the software and internet company to several hundred employees and sold it to United Health Group (UHN), a $30 billion public company.

Brian Mohney, MD

Dr. Mohney is a board certified, fellowship-trained pediatric eye surgeon with over 30 years of experience diagnosing and managing pediatric eye diseases. He has served as a physician, researcher, and educator at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for the past 20 years and leads the pediatric ophthalmology fellowship training program. His area of expertise focuses on pediatric eye disorders.

John Berdahl, MD

Advisory Board

Highly trained ophthalmic surgeon with advanced surgical expertise in Cornea, Cataract, Glaucoma, and Refractive Surgery. John is the founder of Equinox, a company developing a product based upon the concept that intraocular pressure (IOP) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure both contribute to glaucoma.

Dr. Kirk Adams is the former President and CEO of the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB). Dr. Adams is a transformational non-profit leader with 20+ years of nation-wide experience and the proven ability to shape, align and focus an organization’s strategic initiatives towards their vision and mission. He has a successful background in legislative advocacy, spanning over 200 visits to congressional offices.

Dr. Jodi Star

Chief Psychiatric Officer

Dr. Jodi Star is a quadruple board certified, as well as Pediatric residency trained, psychiatrist with over 20 years’ experience in clinical care, research and education.  Currently, Dr. Star serves as the Medical Director of Guiding Light Wellness Center , where she enjoys seeing patients of all ages with a multi-disciplinary approach.  She has expertise in the integration and treatment of mental health disorders with medical conditions.
