What is remote patient monitoring and why isn’t it being used in Ophthalmology clinics?

Author: Dr. Joel Solano

Remote patient monitoring is healthcare that is delivered outside of the traditional inpatient or outpatient clinical setting and is typically delivered in the patient’s normal daily environment. Ophthalmology is a field of medicine where there is heavy reliance on visualization of anatomy to diagnose disease. Technology allows us the ability to capture much of the data needed for diagnosing diseases and this is already being done for diseases ranging from diabetic retinopathy to ocular tumors. What has not been done in ophthalmology is to use technology to deliver healthcare remotely. This is where Eye C Better is focused on helping glaucoma patients with their disease outcomes. Our mission is to prevent vision loss while improving QoL and we use our team of care coordinators and our proprietary technology to scale the healthcare platform that we have created.
